Import Windows games
You can add Windows games you already have, without a Steam account.
Put the game folders in place:
- On an exFAT USB drive or M.2 SSD, in playden/import/<game folder> at the root of the drive.
- Or over FTP, in /data/playden-import/<game folder> on the console.
The drive must be exFAT. The PS5 can't read NTFS, and FAT32 can't hold files over 4 GB.
Add a game:
- Open Import games: on the Startup screen, on Home when your library is empty, or in Settings › Library.
- Choose Look for games. Playden lists the folders it finds, with their size.
- Pick a folder. When it holds one program besides installers and tools, Playden starts the game with it. Otherwise pick the program that starts the game; installers and tools are labelled as such. You can change it later in Game settings.
- Choose where the game files live:
- Play from the USB drive (or the M.2 SSD, or the drop folder): nothing is copied. The drive must stay plugged in.
- Import into Playden: then choose the storage it goes to. Playden copies the game there; the console copies about 11 MB/s, so a large game takes a while. A drive without room for the game, and the drive the game is on, can't be chosen.
- For a game in the drop folder, Console storage moves the folder into Playden at once. Another drive gets a copy, and once the copy is checked the game's files leave the drop folder, so it isn't stored twice. Until then it plays from the drop folder.
You can import a game that plays from its folder later, with Import into Playden on its page. The PS5 adds the game's title to Home when Playden quits. Importing a game later keeps its saves.
